Supporting Growth Through Play

PlayPositive exists to help children experience sport as a place where they feel confident, supported, emotionally safe, and excited to grow and to help parents feel confident in how they support that journey.

We believe that the most powerful influence on a child’s sporting experience isn’t the coach, the session, or the result, rather it’s the environment around them, especially at home.

And that environment is shaped through small, everyday conversations.

Why PlayPositive Was Created

Many parents want to support their child in sport but aren’t always sure how.

What do you say before a match?
How do you respond after disappointment?
How do you encourage confidence without pressure?

Too often, good intentions turn into:

  • Performance-focused conversations

  • Tension on the car ride home

  • Confusion about what “supportive” really looks like

PlayPositive was created to offer clarity, reassurance, and simple tools, grounded in sport psychology, that help parents support their child’s wellbeing, confidence, and enjoyment, not just performance.

Why Conversations Matter

Children make sense of sport through the people closest to them. The words used at home, the tone of support, and the way challenges are talked through all influence how children experience success, disappointment, effort, and growth.

PlayPositive™ focuses on small conversations because they have a big impact. When children feel heard, understood, and supported, they are more likely to enjoy sport, stay involved, and develop healthy relationships with challenge and emotion.
